ServLine is a unique leak protection program available to water utilities to help them better serve customers while improving utility operations. Since 2014, ServLine has insured utilities against the financial loss resulting from water leaks. ServLine is a vetted partner of the National Rural Water Association and multiple state associations. The program has paid 100% of claims that have met the participating utility’s leak guidelines

Common Exclusions

ServLine does not cover all types of water loss. Common exclusions include:

  • Leaks in underground sprinkler systems, swimming pools, or other irrigation lines.

  • Leaks from faucets, spigots, or hoses on the building foundation itself.

  • Water loss related to other structures beyond the main dwelling foundation.

  • Known, ongoing leaks that are not promptly repaired.

Important Considerations

  • Bill Adjustments, Not Repairs: The water loss protection covers the cost of the excess water on your bill, typically up to a set amount (e.g., $2,500 per claim), not the cost of the plumbing repair itself.

  • Verification: To be eligible, you must typically be able to provide details of the repair and show reduced water consumption in a subsequent month.

  • Policy Specifics: Coverage details, such as the maximum claim amount and claim frequency (e.g., one or two claims per 12-month period), vary by utility.
